Volkswagen & Audi · PQ & MQB · Online OTA Update
This VW Audi LCD/LED digital cluster update guide explains how to update an eligible iKAGOO LCD instrument cluster over Wi-Fi using the built-in OTA function. It applies to supported Volkswagen and Audi PQ and MQB products supplied through iKAGOO and does not apply to an original Volkswagen or Audi factory cluster.
Example version-information screen. Read the APP build date before opening Online Update.
Quick Answer
VW Audi LCD/LED Digital Cluster Update: Can Your iKAGOO Cluster Update Online?
Eligible iKAGOO aftermarket LCD/LED digital instrument clusters for Volkswagen and Audi PQ or MQB platforms can update online through Settings → System → Online Update. Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi are supported.
An APP build dated April 16, 2025 or later supports the online OTA route. Earlier builds require the confirmed offline or USB update method.
A normal online OTA update does not require prior contact with iKAGOO. If the screen shows No update available, there is currently no update for that cluster.
Applicability
Who This OTA Guide Is For
iKAGOO Aftermarket LCD/LED Clusters
This guide is written only for supported iKAGOO aftermarket LCD/LED digital instrument clusters.
Not an OEM Factory Cluster
These are aftermarket replacement or retrofit LCD/LED digital instrument clusters for supported Volkswagen and Audi PQ or MQB vehicles, not factory-installed OEM clusters.
Online Update Route
The cluster must boot normally and provide access to the built-in Online Update menu.

Safety Boundary
Stop Before Updating If Any of These Conditions Apply
Do Not Continue with Normal OTA
- The cluster does not boot normally
- The screen is already black
- The APP version information cannot be opened
- The PQ or MQB platform route is uncertain
- The cluster has been flashed with an unknown package
- The vehicle wiring or cluster harness has been modified
- Vehicle power is unstable
- The product was supplied by another seller and its firmware route is unknown
Before Updating
Preparation Checklist
- Open Settings → About / Version Info
- Photograph the current APP, MCU and UI information
- Record the current CAN protocol
- Record language, units and theme settings
- Keep the cluster normally powered
- Do not disconnect the instrument-cluster harness
- Connect to stable 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi
- Do not begin if the cluster is already malfunctioning
Step-by-Step Procedure
How to Complete a VW Audi LCD/LED Digital Cluster Update Over Wi-Fi
Check the Current APP Build
Open Settings → About / Version Info. Confirm that the APP build date is April 16, 2025 or later before using the online OTA route.
Record the Current Settings
Photograph or record the current CAN protocol, language, units and theme. These settings usually remain after the update, but the record allows you to restore them if vehicle data is not recognized correctly.
Connect the Cluster to Wi-Fi
Open the network settings and connect to a stable 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network. A phone hotspot can also be used. Keep the phone close and keep the hotspot active until the download is complete.
Open Online Update
Go to Settings → System → Online Update. The menu path is the same for supported PQ and MQB products.
Check for an Available Update
Start the online check. If the screen shows No update available, there is currently no update for the cluster. Do not repeatedly check or install an unrelated file.
Download the Update
Download the update shown by the OTA system. Package size varies by firmware version and update items, so use the size shown on the actual update screen rather than relying on a fixed estimate.
Continue If the Download Is Interrupted
If the download stalls or is interrupted, re-enter the Online Update page and continue the download. Do not restart the cluster unless it is necessary, and do not repeatedly disconnect vehicle power.
Install the Update
Follow the on-screen instruction. If an Install button appears, select it. Keep the cluster normally powered and do not exit the update process. Update duration varies according to the firmware version and the items included, so do not treat any fixed number of minutes as a guarantee.
Restart After “Update Completed”
When Update Completed appears, press any steering-wheel button once to restart the instrument cluster. There is no need to lock the vehicle and wait for three minutes.
Verify the Result
Reopen Settings → About / Version Info and confirm that the expected APP, MCU or UI information has changed. Then verify the main vehicle-data functions before normal use.
After the Restart
Post-Update Verification
- APP, MCU or UI version information
- Speed display
- RPM display
- Fuel level or EV state of charge
- Turn indicators
- Warning lights and self-check
- TPMS information if supported
- Steering-wheel controls
- Language and units
- Theme and interface layout
- Vehicle recognition through the CAN protocol
- Normal shutdown and restart behavior
Choose the Correct Route
Online OTA or Offline Update Package?
| Situation | Recommended Route | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Online Update finds a new version | Online OTA | Follow the on-screen download and installation steps |
| No update available | No action required | There is currently no available online update |
| APP build is earlier than April 16, 2025 | Offline / USB review | Use the confirmed offline update route |
| Download was interrupted | Return to Online Update | Continue the download without unnecessary restarting |
| Black screen after an update error | Correct offline package required | Do not repeatedly restart or install unknown firmware |
| Cluster was purchased from another seller | Independent paid support | Use FixMyDash.com for remote software assistance |
Troubleshooting
Common OTA Update Questions
No update available
This means there is currently no available online update for the cluster. Do not repeatedly check or install an unrelated package from another source.
The update download stopped
Re-enter Settings → System → Online Update and continue the download. Avoid restarting the cluster unless necessary.
The Wi-Fi connection is unstable
Reconnect to a stable 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network. If using a phone hotspot, keep the phone close and keep the hotspot active until the download finishes.
The update duration is longer than expected
Update time depends on the firmware version and the items included. Keep the cluster normally powered and follow the on-screen status rather than relying on a fixed time estimate.
The screen became black
A normal OTA update should not produce a black screen. Treat this as an update error that requires the correct offline upgrade package. Do not repeatedly restart the cluster, disconnect power or install an unknown file.
Vehicle information is not recognized after the restart
Restore the recorded CAN protocol and check the language, units and theme settings. Reconfigure only the items that are not recognized correctly.
