The iKAGOO factory function retention standard explains how we verify factory functions after a vehicle-specific Android head unit, digital instrument cluster, factory display replacement or integrated cockpit upgrade—and how we measure the final OEM-style match without treating the score as a percentage of missing functions.
Direct answer: applicable core vehicle functions must first operate correctly. Only then are function continuity, original controls, vehicle data and warnings, physical architecture, factory-style UI and installation integration scored against two published comparison baselines.
100/100 is a theoretical ideal reference: it is not presented as a normal real-world result or a promise that an aftermarket product becomes an original factory component. A result below 100 identifies documented differences in integration; it does not mean the vehicle loses the same percentage of functions or becomes unsafe to drive.

Why this is an iKAGOO evaluation standard rather than a general sales claim
The method publishes the comparison baselines, dimension weights, indicator importance, performance levels, formulas, core-function gate and evidence rules so a buyer can see how a result was reached. A score is not assigned from product appearance, a supplier feature list or an unsupported “retains everything” statement.
Applicable indicators create the score
Each applicable indicator is graded independently in every dimension it affects. Core indicators use weight ×3, Important indicators ×2 and Supporting indicators ×1. N/A items are removed from the denominator.
Evidence controls publication, not performance
Level A or B evidence can support a formal result, Level C remains provisional and Level D receives no public score. Evidence strength does not artificially increase or reduce the observed numerical result.
The conclusion follows the supplied technical route
The same exterior design does not prove the same display panel, mainboard, wiring, CANBUS supplier, firmware, camera interface, audio path or production standard.

Which factory functions can remain after an Android head unit or digital instrument cluster upgrade?
Most relevant factory functions can remain available, but not every part will look or operate exactly as before.
iKAGOO counts a function as retained when its essential purpose still works after installation. Before ordering, a head unit compatibility check or digital instrument cluster compatibility review should confirm the original system, steering-wheel controls, factory reverse camera, 360° camera, parking sensors, factory amplifier, vehicle settings, climate functions and critical driving data. Retention may continue through the original system, a new screen menu, remapped controls, CANBUS support, a MOST fiber-optic adapter, a camera decoder or another vehicle-specific integration route.
We do not use “100% retains all factory functions.” The exact answer depends on the product, vehicle year, original system, audio system, cameras, controls and existing configuration.
The four possible answers
- Retained: the core purpose remains available.
- Retained with Additional Support: an adapter or module is required.
- Compatibility Review Required: the result depends on the original configuration.
- Not Retained: the core purpose is confirmed unavailable.
Model and year alone may not be enough. A compatibility review before ordering should confirm the factory screen, infotainment version, steering position, amplifier, camera and control type so the correct vehicle-specific head unit, digital cluster or dual-screen route is selected.
Only products marked Factory System Retained: Yes have confirmed access to the original factory interface.
They may work directly, require button learning, use changed long-press logic or move selected functions to the touchscreen.
These are checked separately. Some routes retain them directly; others require CANBUS, a decoder or a configuration-specific interface.
Standard audio may be direct. BOSE, B&O, Harman Kardon and MOST fiber-optic systems may need additional support.
Critical driving data and warnings must be supported by vehicle-specific testing or documented configuration verification before they are marked retained.
This is not automatic. It can depend on the head unit, video-output route, converter, software version or vehicle communication architecture.

Core-function gate: there is no minimum passing score for an individual dimension. If an applicable primary function—such as essential driving data, critical warnings, required camera operation, primary audio or a required control route—is incorrect or unresolved, the final score is not published.

Scores come from applicable indicators, performance levels and published weights
The method does not use fixed deductions such as “a larger screen always loses 12 points.” Each indicator starts from the theoretical best contribution in every affected dimension, then retains 100%, 90%, 70%, 40% or 0% of its weighted contribution according to the verified performance level.

Is vehicle model and year enough to confirm compatibility?

What evidence is stronger than a supplier feature list?
Same-route vehicle testing, multiple verified installation cases, customer installation evidence and configuration-specific technical records. When supplier material conflicts with a real installation, the real result takes priority.
Can I use an iKAGOO score to judge a similar product from another seller?
No. The score applies to the identified iKAGOO-supplied screen or mainboard version, harness and pin standard, CANBUS/interface route, firmware, supporting modules and confirmed vehicle baseline. A similar case or product image does not prove that another seller supplies the same technical route.
What if another seller says the product comes from the same factory?
A factory name alone does not establish an identical product. Display panels, touch layers, mainboards, wiring pinouts, CANBUS suppliers, firmware, camera decoders, MOST interfaces, production batches and quality-control standards can differ. Does a lower UI or physical-match score mean the vehicle is not usable?
No. The core-function gate is evaluated first. A lower physical or UI result can describe a visible difference in screen position, dashboard layout, fonts, icons or interaction style while the applicable primary vehicle functions remain normal.
Why can the same factory camera receive different grades in different dimensions?
Because availability, automatic trigger, parking data, overlay graphics and decoder installation are different consequences. The image may be fully available in Function Continuity while the overlay or hardware route receives a lower Data, UI or Installation grade.
